The Newest Addition To Our Eye Care Team

October 1, 2015

As of September 1, 2015, medically trained optometrist Dr. Christine Luzuriaga officially joined Center for Total Eye Care’s growing team of eye care professionals.

Dr. Luzuriaga earned her Bachelor of Science in Health Science at Clemson University in South Carolina, where she graduated cum laude. She received her Doctorate of Optometry and Masters of Science in Vision Sciences from New England College of Optometry in Massachusetts before making her way to Maryland to complete a residency in ocular disease at the Baltimore VA Medical Center.

“We are very excited to have Dr. Luzuriaga,” says Center for Total Eye Care eye surgeon Dr. Robert Friedman. “She’s an exceptional doctor and fits in well with our team here.”

Dr. Friedman’s colleague, eye surgeon Dr. Wayne Barber, states that Luzuriaga provides comprehensive optometry. This includes but is not limited to routine eye exams, contact lens and glasses fittings, low vision therapy, pre- and post-operative eye care, and diagnosis and treatment of a variety of eye conditions. “With her aboard,” says Dr. Barber, “our patients have access to not one but two medically trained optometrists.”

Dr. Luzuriaga, who has been in practice for five years, loves what she does. “I enjoy the relationships I have developed with patients and always strive to stay atop of current literature to provide the best possible care,” she says. “I’m very glad to be joining a like-minded team of eye care professionals who are known for their innovative and personalized care.”
